| “...a local, all original band that fuses jazz, funk, rock, Latin and more have been around long enough to be hard to shake and of course, ready to groove.” - Jim Beal San Antonio Express-News Columnist |
| History: Groove Movement, founded by Frank Pena, Matt Wolff and Danny Gallegos in the spring of 2001, has been working the local San Antonio music scene for many years. Desmond Fahie and Jordan Slaughter both joined the band in the summer of 2006, contributing vocals and percussion respectively and have been around equally as long jamming SA’s music scene. Then, Tiffany Cristo joined in on the groove by adding a classically trained voice to complement Des. The overall collaboration between these guys is hard to describe, because it is comprised of so many different influences. From Soul to Funk or Jazz to Hip-Hop, the bands musical range is vast and ever expansive, constantly taking new shapes and forms from one gig to the next. However you describe the band’s sound a few things are for sure: it’s new, original, refreshing, energetic and innovative. With the upcoming Debut CD Release, Groove Movement is currently booking tour dates all over Texas, along with major festivals, radio interviews, local TV performances, showcases and live Internet broadcasting. Groove Movement’s radio single, Victim, will be distributed to College and University radio stations through the help of Incarnate Word’s Internet radio team and Groove Movement Management. Distribution is right around the corner for this independent music machine, with a sound and secure management plan aimed at successfully promoting and driving CD sales through tour support, internet advertising and networking, market research and analysis, radio interviews, in-store appearances, print media and underwriting. We are even looking way outside the USA. Groove Movement is set to open their “mixi.com” site in Japan. Mixi is Japan’s equivalent to Myspace. Through networking and developing relationships, Groove Movement’s fan base has been growing steadily and with a wide range of customers. |
